Scholarships

“We believe that financial scarcity should not be an obstacle to a good education.”

- Alexander Thaller, UWC Adriatic 2015-2017, President UWC Austria

More than 80% of students selected by UWC national committees receive partial or full scholarships funded by membership fees, grants and donations.

Applicants are automatically nominated for need-based scholarships during the application phase. It is therefore not necessary to actively apply for financial support! Depending on the financial background of the applicants, UWC Austria offers full or partial scholarships.

Need-based scholarships mean that scholarships are based on need:

  • The amount of the scholarships depends on the available income or assets of all parents/guardians.
  • Most UWC Austria scholarship holders receive a partial scholarship. In addition, at least one full scholarship is awarded each year if there is a need for it.
  • When awarding scholarships, other factors such as monthly fixed costs, household costs and expenses for other family members are taken into account.
  • The school costs incurred and therefore the amount of the scholarship are determined in consultation with the parents/guardians.
  • Need-based scholarships and the associated solidarity-based parental contributions enable UWC Austria to send as many suitable applicants as possible to a UWC school or college.
  • Exact details on scholarships and solidary parental contributions will be announced during the selection process.
