Short Courses
UWC as a vacation programme: In addition to the UWC schools & colleges, the UWC short courses have been giving young people the opportunity to experience intercultural exchange in a shorter but very intensive setting since 1987.
International short courses
UWC short courses follow the same ideals as the UWC schools & colleges and are offered as one-off vacation programs of one to three weeks. They often take place in regions where political, economic, social or environmental problems can be found. So far, UWC short courses have been organised in countries such as Armenia, Jordan, Lithuania, Latvia, Montenegro, Turkey and Cyprus, but also in Austria. The courses are usually organised by tutors and teachers from the UWC schools & colleges as well as former UWC students.
The participants of the UWC short courses are usually selected by the UWC national committees and receive grants towards the course fees and/or travel costs if required.
Those interested in the worldwide UWC short courses can apply to UWC Austria, regardless of whether they are also applying or have applied for a two-year UWC school or college place.
An overview of all current short courses can be found here.
UWC considers all short course graduates as UWC graduates after their participation.
“The short course was the best, most exciting and moving thing I have ever experienced. When do you ever get the chance to get to know and love 25 nations at the same time in a short space of time?”
- Lara, Short Course Participant in Istanbul
