Formal Criteria

To be eligible to apply, you should:

• be in the 6th or 7th grade of an AHS or the 2nd or 3rd grade of a BHS/ORG and be born between 31 August 2007 and 01 September 2009. (In justified exceptional cases, participation in the selection procedure is possible with a timely request).
• do well at school on the whole
• have Austrian citizenship or have your centre of life in Austria
• be able to work well independently
• show social interest and commitment
• be interested in other cultures and ideas
• be highly motivated to attend a UWC school

If you have an international background, you should check which UWC national committee you are allowed to apply to. According to the application regulations of the UWC International Office, you may only apply to one UWC national committee.

Apply through the Global Selection Programme

The Global Selection Programme (GSP) is a selection process managed by the UWC International Office and the UWC schools & colleges, which takes place virtually and awards a limited number of places. The GSP is therefore an alternative application option and is intended for applicants who do not require financial support to attend a UWC school or college. In the GSP, an existing college preference is given greater consideration.

Applicants can only apply to UWC once per year. A GSP application therefore excludes the possibility of applying through a UWC national committee (here: UWC Austria). Alternatively, you can only apply through a UWC national committee.

A direct application to the UWC schools & colleges is not possible.

Candidates with Disabilities

Candidates with disabilities are welcome at UWC. Several UWC schools & colleges are barrier-free. The only requirement is that the applicant can live largely without a carer.
